Katie Dickieson

Author, coach, and the reason this company exists

She paid ten thousand dollars to publish her memoir. She got a book that sold. She also got a cover she was given twenty four hours to approve, an editor who wrote in the margin that the chapter about where she comes from did not matter, and a copyright registration she could never find any record of.

She fixed it herself. Then she built the company she needed at the beginning.

The Ten Thousand Dollar Education

Everything Dick Press does differently, it learned here.

Remember Who the F*ck You Are is a memoir about being told who to be and deciding otherwise. Katie wrote it, paid a publisher ten thousand dollars to put it into the world, and then spent the next year learning what that money had and had not bought.

It bought a cover she saw for the first time with a twenty four hour window to approve it. It bought an edit that put a note in the margin of a chapter about her family saying that part did not matter to the story. She kept the chapter. Nobody had told her she was allowed to.

Months after the launch she went looking for her copyright registration, could not find one, and asked for a registration number and a filing date. She never got either. So she filed it herself, for sixty five dollars, at her own kitchen table.

The book did well anyway. It hit number one in its categories on launch day. She narrated the audiobook in her own voice. Readers sent photographs of it on their kitchen tables and by their pools and in their hands at two in the morning.

None of which changes the fact that she spent a year of her life feeling like a guest in her own book.

So she asked the question that started everything: what would it look like if no author ever had to go through this?

Dick Press Publishing is the answer. Every rule here is a scar. The author approves her own cover, on her own clock, with no clock at all if she needs one. The copyright is registered in her name, every time, without her having to ask. She sees what every person on her book is being paid. Nobody is assigned to her book without her say so.

Built from experience. Built from anger turned to purpose. Built for every writer, in every genre, sitting on a book the world needs to read.

The Receipts

She is not theorising. She has done this. Screenshots, not adjectives.

What Readers Said

From reviews and messages she was sent. Names as they appear.

“Part millennial memoir, part healing guide and part self-love declaration … a worthwhile read that breathes new life into what has lately become an otherwise sterile genre.”

Amazon reader review

“The real strength here isn’t identifying character flaws in others, but rather recognizing and celebrating your own idiosyncrasies, standing up for yourself and making yourself heard.”

Amazon reader review

“Her ability to hold space as a coach allows for true reflection of self. More importantly, it’s lead me to true celebration of myself.”

Allyson M., coaching client

“A book that highlights the deep, resonant truth that, if we were taught self-love from the very beginning, the entire realm of personal development would be rendered redundant.”

What She Built Instead

Your copyright, in your name

Registered for you, every time, in your name, without you having to find out it is missing. On our price list that is two lines: sixty five dollars to the Copyright Office, and one hundred and eighty five to us for doing the filing and chasing the certificate. Never one number.

Your cover, on your clock

No twenty four hour window. Nothing goes forward until you have actually said yes, and the system will not let anyone pretend otherwise.

Your team, your choice

You read the team, you pick who works on your book, and nobody is assigned to it over your head. The database will not let it happen.

Your money, shown to you

You see what every person on your book is being paid. No markup hidden inside a package price.

How It Works

Your Story. Your Copyright. Your Book. Your Way.

If you are sitting on a book and you have been waiting for someone to treat it like it matters, tell her about it.
